As the first customer deliveries of Honda’s new mega-hatch take place, Milltek has become one of the first to launch a range of exhaust systems designed to enhance the new Civic Type R FL5.
Available to order from all Milltek dealers now, owners of Honda’s record-breaking new Civic Type R can choose from a bespoke range of premium performance exhausts designed around their requirements.
The system reduces back pressure by over 20%, increasing engine power across the rev range and enhancing the performance of the turbo. Milltek’s bespoke revised exhaust valve design has also resulted in a 15% increase in diameter, allowing the driver to control exhaust note and volume via the factory selectable Civic Type R driving modes.
The new range has already proved hugely popular, with over 70% of the first batch of exhausts being pre-sold. Customers can choose between race and road specifications, with all Civic Type R FL5 cat back systems complying with track day noise restrictions.
Each exhaust comprises seven key components, including a front flex pipe, front silencer or bypass section, centre silencer or bypass section, rear connecting pipe, dual rear silencer, 15% larger valve outlet and choice of tailpipe tips.
Five different tip finishes are on offer for the Civic Type R FL5 cat back, including Polished Stainless, Cerakote Satin Black, Brushed Titanium, Burnt/Blue Titanium and Carbon Fiber.
All systems include a brand-new heat shield design that isolates the boot floor from heat transfer, improving air flow around the rear silencer. The triple exhaust tailpipes are now a single size, offering a cleaner, streamlined appearance in comparison with the OEM system – although a design which replicates the factory exhaust tips is also available.
Milltek has been closely linked with Honda’s hottest hatch for years and remains title sponsor of the Civic Cup – one of the most exciting one-make championships on the race meeting calendar. Calling on its vast experience on road and track over the last 40 years, the company is proud to be one of the first to market with the latest FL5.
Like all Milltek systems, the new FL5 Type R range has been designed, developed and produced at the company’s Advanced Manufacturing Centre in Derby, UK, with additional testing at Milltek GmbH site, near the fabled Nürburgring race circuit.
Milltek’s Civic Type R range enhances performance, sound quality, and aesthetics with options for ECE / TUV approval coming soon. All dealers are on hand to support customers with their individual specification, with options for resonated, non-resonated and sports cat systems available to choose from.
Milltek offers premium performance exhaust systems for every Civic Type R ever sold on the UK market, including the EP3, FN2, FK2 and outgoing FK8 generation.
All systems are designed for optimum durability, performance, driving dynamics and aesthetics – constructed from highly durable and anti-magnetic T304L ‘aircraft grade’ stainless steel which is less susceptible to discoloration. Mandrel bending ensures full flow bends for better gas flow, with an increased bore to ensure ultimate performance without the loss of mid-range torque.
